Reach for Home
SUMMARY
Reach for Home is seeking an Executive Director (ED) to advance the organization’s vision to end homelessness in North Sonoma County. Since our inception in 2013, we have been transforming lives by engaging our clients in an action plan for their success and providing them with the skills needed to attain permanent housing. The Reach for Home Program is based on four main pillars: Outreach, First Step Housing, Permanent Supportive Housing, and Rapid Re-Housing. The goal of our programs is for our clients to create a path to find long-term housing, generate income, and build functional life skills.
The ideal candidate will have the passion and drive to provide opportunities and support for clients to work toward self-sufficiency, independence, and permanent housing. The ED will be the face of the organization to a wide variety of supporters to include neighboring foundations, local/county organizations, and individual donors The ED will support a team of experts supporting clients access resources and services that will help them make necessary changes in their lives. The ideal candidate will have deep experience cultivating relationships with community partners, possess excellent communication abilities, have a keen vision for strategic execution, and a passion for our mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Face of the Organization – Represent Reach for Home in all undertakings, define the mission, and clearly communicate this mission within our community, including local governments, leaders, and community members.
• Develop and Document a Community Outreach strategy
• Understand the population of the North County and develop strategies to engage towns and the associated populations in the mission of RFH
• Represent RFH in local meetings, such as planning, and city council and county meetings
Fundraising – seek funding to support the organizational mission and operational expenses.
• Seek and define creative ways of accessing funding
o from the general population
o businesses and business leaders
o foundations and agencies
o local governments
• Meet with all major donors at least annually to establish open communication and define program needs which might be funded; seek guidance on the mission for RFH and understand the motivation of the donor
Government/Partner Relations
• Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with relevant County and City officials
• Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with the areas elected officials
• Understand and develop relationships with the community organizations that can partner with RFH for additional services and or financial support
• Develop Advocates within all partnering organizations to keep RFH at the top of their priorities
Program Development
• Define programs to accomplish RFH’s mission
• Define best practices in conjunction with program staff
• Set appropriate program guidelines based on defined best practices and establish goals for program results
• Maintain an awareness of potential employees in the service area that could assist in program growth
• Ensure program and agency compliance with all relevant regulations and rules
Management and Staff Development
• In collaboration with Reach for Home staff, define corporate culture and continually reinforce through clear communication and consistent behavior
• Maintain excellent communication and effective working relationships with all staff members
• Appropriately delegate tasks and duties to challenge and assist in staff development
• Define goals and desired outcomes for each staff member
• Institute adequate and effective policies and procedures to provide a clear operational framework
• Closely monitor and ensure financial health and stability of the organization
QUALIFICATIONS
• Commitment and drive to support the mission to end homelessness in Northern Sonoma County
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
• 10+ years’ experience supporting homelessness or related field
• 5+ years’ experience in a senior leadership role with a hands-on approach in developing high performing teams
• Experience developing local partnerships among nonprofits, community-based organizations, private sector entities, and social justice organizations.
• Financial and business acumen with the ability to manage budgets and data-driven program evaluations
• Demonstrated experience in public relations with the ability to connect with a broad range of community partners
• Creative and innovative mindset in establishing and expanding programs to meet organization objectives
• Proven success with fund development, leading fund campaigns and securing new grants
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a relationship-based approach
• Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and transparency
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Social Media, and database management (Greater Giving)
